Bias and the Study of History

We had a good discussion today about why people sometimes interpret and recall events differently.  In addition, we talked about how these different interpretations can affect the study of History.  The image above is trying to show how someone’s point of view (how they feel about an issue, topic, etc.) is impacted by a variety of personal biases.

It is interesting how the point of view of a person can develop. Propaganda is a good way to mangle a persons point of view

This diagram really shows how your thoughts can be bias by many factors like your age, gender, experiences, race, religion, and nationality impact your own opinion. One of the ways this can happen is by propaganda. An example of propaganda is Paul Revere's drawing of the boston massacre, in which he tried to manipulate peoples point of view.
