This is the archaeological site where Donald Johanson found "Lucy," one of the most famous hominid remains because of its age....dating back about 3 million years ago.

Fertile Crescent Region
This is the region know historically as the Fertile Crescent, although it is not as fertile as it once was. Mesopotamia is the region between the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers, which make a "V" and empty into the Persian Gulf.

The Bering Strait
The Bering Strait is all that separates Russia from the United States (Alaska). One theory is that people who populated the Americas traveled this way from Asia approximately 14,000 years ago.

Nile Delta Region
This is where the Nile empties into the Mediterranean Sea.

Adriatic Region
This is mainland Greece along with Crete and what used to be considered the Persian Empire to the east. The arrow indicates the location of Athens.

Mainland Italy is show here along with Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica, and the tip of Africa where the Empire of Carthage was located.
